Expertly Engineered Soil Stabilization
Late in 2018, one of Epex Soil Solutions’ clients applied Dura-Crust Base to eight low water crossings on a primary oilfield road in South Texas. These low-water crossings flooded numerous times during the next two months due to massive amounts of rain.
Dura-Crust Base at a 5% mix was blended with the top 1″ of caliche. All the crossings not only withstood the many floods, but they supported the move of 2 rigs and all associated equipment.
This video shows the crossings and the differences between the treated and untreated areas.
Following the initial development of Dura-Crust polymers, the first generation of Dura-Crust Base was used for the stabilization of sandy soil during the construction of the Indian Wells Tennis Garden. The polymer was used to stabilize the soil so as not to require support pilings during the construction process in one segment of the bowl. Four coats of polymer were applied which produced a hard stable surface that met the needs of the contractor. Additional material was used on site to reduce dust and stabilize other areas during construction.

Epex Soil Solutions, product manufacturer of Dura-Crust, use their own product for dust control on one of their main drives and parking areas. Due to this being a traffic area, they coated their aggregate drive and parking area using a 3% mix of Dura-Crust Sealer. They typically re-coat once a year. This eliminated the need for applying a costly concrete or asphalt surface.
In 2012 Riverside County, various California State Agencies, and the U.S. Military at 29 Palms began using the first generation of Dura-Crust polymers for dust control along roads and airfields.
The following video shows the effectiveness of Dura-Crust Sealer at a CHP helipad near Indio, CA. The helicopter approaches over an untreated area. It then takes off in the other direction, leaving over a treated area. In the final segment it approaches again over the initial area after an application of Dura-Crust Sealer.
